SmartCOP MailTrap for Mail Servers is a non-firewall based anti-virus
mail server. It is based on a high performance, multithreaded
architecture that can handle large amount of mail traffic. It

The

MailTrap
is a powerful E-Mail scanner and filter. It monitors all the
incomming mails in the Mail Server and scans the Attachments,
Embedded Scripts, ActiveX Components and Java Applets if any.
If any object is found infected or suspicious, that object is
removed from the E-Mail while letting the rest of the mail through.
The original infected mail is quarantined and a warning message
is sent to the sender of the mail. This ensures that the user
does not miss any message and is also safe from viruses. |

The
advanced options of MailTrap allow the user to block all VBS/JS
Scripts and E-Mail Attachments of specified types. For example
all executable file attachments are blocked. This will make
sure that even new viruses do not enter the users system.

to use the attachment.

Programmable
Auto Responder |

A
fully programmable Auto-Responder enables the administrator
to send warning messages to any e-mail id apart from the sender
of the mail. The Sender and the Subject of the auto-response
message can also be customized. |

Session Monitor |

A
unique Session Monitor displays the list of all the current
sessions in progress. If any Virus, Unauthorized Attachment
or Unauthorized Script is found, an entry is added to the exception
list. The administrator can easily locate the source of the
offending e-mails by glancing through this exception list. It
also monitors the performance of MailTrap and shows the usage
in the form of a performance graph. |

Updates |

SmartCOP
provides frequent updates of vaccines for new viruses on the
net. These updates should be downloaded regularly to ensure
total protection against new viruses. A single click update
procedure is available in SmartCOP. InstaUpdate can also download
program patches/bug fixes apart from the virus definitions.
Users can also schedule the updates as and when they like.
Updates are automatic and transparent. There is no need to
stop the mail server while updating.

authentication |

This
particular feature of MailTrap lets you set a list of mail sender
belonging to a particular domain name. In SmartCOP MailTrap,
this feature is provided in User List option. By using the User
List option, only mentioned users could send mails via mail
server. |

Domain
restrictions |

You
can use the Domains feature of Smart Trap to specify the name
of a domain and set restrictions or policies for its users.
With this option you can set restrictions for sending and receiving
mails, such as the sender of the mail must be belong to the
specified domain name and so on. This feature stops the server
from becoming an open relay. Open relays are normally exploited
by spammers to distribute spam mails. |

Error
handling and customization |

The
Relay feature of SmartCOP MailTrap takes care of all undelivered
mails. Although 9 out of 10 mails are successfully delivered
to the intended mail server but sometimes due technical reasons
mails could not be send in the first attempt. In that case,
the Relay option of SmartCOP MailTrap service comes for the
rescue. Using the Relay option, you can set the time limit for
the mail forwarder to make attempts after the specific time
period. You can also set the total time for the mail forwarder
to send the mail and deleting the mail incase it is not returned
to the clients within the specified time. |

POP3
Routing |

Using
SmartCOP MailTrap you can customize the POP routing for downloading
mails from the POP3 account and relay them to the mail server.
Just specify the required information for using the POP3 account.
You can specify the time to check mails coming to the mail domain. |

Mail
Forwarding |

Sometimes
a situation may arise when the mail server halts and stop working.
To avoid such a situation the SmartCOP MailTrap can be installed
on another machine. By doing so the overall working of the network
is not affected as the SmartCOP MailTrap will receive all mails
and store them. Once the mail server is up and ready to work,
the SmartCOP MailTrap will forward all mails to the mail server.
Such inter-working between mail server and SmartCOP MailTrap
eases maintenance and troubleshooting without affecting the
user working on the network. |
